Well there have two different builds so far for Iron Man and I guess it is time for me to toss my idea in the ring. I have been exceptionally busy with work, so this isn't playtested yet. But here is my build and why I picked what I picked.
Main Character
Iron Man - cuz Fe Male
Support Characters
4 Daredevil - To get those quick stuns in on your opponents MC
4 Venom - Can buff himself for when you get your level 2 Iron Man
4 Deadpool - Can level himself to get experience on Iron Man. Add that he can range team attack for extra win.
4 Rocket Raccoon - Helps level up Iron Man. Also, turns your Red locations into Yellow ones for Iron Man's second super power.
3 Sabretooth - Because 4 drops don't get much better than this. +1/+1 counters during attacking so Iron Man can give some extra buffs later.
2 Star-Lord - Flex Spot but allows me team attack with everybody. When sporting all 4 alliances, could come in handy.
3 Cable - Finisher or bottleneck for protecting Iron Man. One Iron Man buff turns him into a 6/11 with a devastating special ability against team attacks.
2 Dr Strange - Meta call really. Thanos/Hulk is popular where I am and he can knock them out for a Yellow.
4 Iron Man - Gives me a total of 12 cards that can level up. Adds to the consistency.
Plot Twists
3 Earth's Mightiest Heroes - That extra reach when you need it.
3 Think Again/Find Cover - I think Find Cover is the better Plot Twist, but Think Again is just about as good.
2 Even the Odds - Awesome when you need it, crappy when you don't.
2 Give 'Em a Lift - gives a +1+1 counter, which can come in handy, but really its the Flight the pushed this over Stark Tech.
Locations
4 Avengers Mansion - Powers Iron Man and Dr Strange (mostly Iron Man)
4 School for Gifted Youngers - Powers Deadpool and Cable
4 Knowhere - Powers Rocket Raccoon and Venom
3 Training Ground - Power Rocket Raccoon and Cable
2 Acadamy - Powers Iron Man and Dr Strange (Mostly Iron Man)
3 Fortress - Powers Deadpool and Venom
Berserkers and why I didn't go all in.
Berserkers seem like the obvious choice, but the issue I have found when playing with them is that you need to attack to get the counter. This means, you can't use Iron Man's second ability until afterwards. I opted for guys that can give themselves bonuses without relying on outside resources (aside from locations). This is where Deadpool and Venom really come into their own in the 2 and 3 drops. I can afford to have Deadpool die because if I draw into another one, I can resurrect and then power him up.
Rocket Raccoon and what he does for Iron Man.
The most obvious is getting another guy from your dead pile to power up a guy in the field. Helps you level up Iron Man. But don't forget that he also turns your red locations into yellow ones give you more chances to use Iron Man major power buff. Hold onto a yellow location, discard it to use Iron Man's super power, then use Rocket to pull it back out of your graveyard and into your hand to use again. You can keep recalling your yellow location as long as you have Rocket and a red location face up. Also, Rocket is good for "tipping your hand". If you have already used Earth's Mightiest Heroes or Find Cover, you can pull it back and your opponent will know that you have it. Now they are forced to play around it and making bad attacks.
Give 'Em a Lift over Stark Tech
Stark Tech has the advantage of always being playable since it is an Avenger Plot Twist. I don't find the +1+1 counter to be the best part of GEaL though. Instead, it is the flight ability. This is where it got the edge over Stark Tech. If I have a 5/5 Venom or Sabretooth in the front row and my opponent has turtled up, what I need is a good dose of jump juice to get at his MC to get in those final points of damage. Chances are my opponent isn't going to be sitting on a lot of fliers, and the ones he does have can be blasted to the back row thank to Iron Man's first ability.
Potential Changes
Star-Lord is already a flex spot. I went with him for the always on ability and the ranged attack, but Spider Man wouldn't be a bad option either. His ability will allow you to pull a MC up a level in conjunction of pushing somebody back with Iron Man's. The ying to his yang so to speak. Beast isn't bad since you have a reliable X-Men SC to team up with in Deadpool. As a 2 of, he can hide in the back row to help restock your hand from the power ups. Later, a flying buffed first striking Beast can be fun.
