My current Star Lord deck focuses on dropping lots of big supporting characters. It provides strong answers to Thanos and ramps up very quickly.
Rates/Fixes/Questions/Comments all appreciated. Happy to return the favor.
Main Character: Star Lord
Supporting Characters (34): * 3x Thanos * 3x Adam Warlock * 2x Magneto * 2x Iron Man * 3x Dr. Strange * 4x Sabretooth * 3x Gamora * 4x Nick Fury * 4x Mantis * 3x Cosmo * 3x Yondu
Plot Twists (8): * 4x Find Cover * 4x Even the Odds
Locations (18): * 2x Red * 4x Yellow * 4x Green * 4x Avenger’s Mansion * 4x Knowhere
Change Log: 12.1.15: -1 Groot +1 Even the Odds 12.5.15: -2 Groot +2 Iron Man 12.6.15: -2 Agent Venom +2 Red

I don't have anything useful to add, but after glancing, it makes perfect sense. I like it.
Seems "PT-lite" if anything, but maybe just slightly?

The previous version of the deck had a more standard PT lineup. I have actually found that they're not needed if you have enough resources. For example, rather than playing Extinguish+Open Fire, I can simply drop Gamora and and get the best of both worlds. Obviously it's not a direct comparison but essentially what I'm saying is that PTs are not necessary because of the strong board presence and the utility provided by the supporting characters in the deck which can be played pretty freely given the location ramping.

Looks like it would do well most of the time.
I say definitely get a 4th Even the Odds in there, the card is too good.
Also, I would consider cutting maybe 3-4 SC cards in order to add in a few training ground (red) locations. This will give you more reliable usage of Yondu's ability as well as Starlord's space cop ability. It also would give you a better chance of not losing a SC or PT to your resource row when you use Nick Fury.

I honestly can't believe I didn't think of adding more Reds. I mean, I probably wouldn't want 4 since they'll be a nearly dead draw for the first few turns but 2 or 3 could be really useful. The only concern I have is if I'm against Thanos and I get nuked, I could end up top decking into locations which would be GG. Any suggestion for what to drop?

Thoughts on what to replace:
1 Dr. Strange, 1 Gamora, 1 Sabertooth....
in that order.

Right now Groot seems like the weakest monster in the deck. By the time he's big, I should be able to drop Adam/Thanos. When I am able to play him, Magneto/Dr Strange are just simply better. Granted, late game he can be a heavy hitter. Going to playtest some variations and see.
gorbtheshepherd, I took your advice and updated to remove one Groot for another Even the Odds.
eekamouse, I'm going to playtest -2 Groot +2 Reds.

The only concern I have is if I'm against Thanos and I get nuked, I could end up top decking into locations which would be GG. Any suggestion for what to drop? Decking into locations/unusable cards will always be a possibility, that just comes down to luck. Adding 3 more locations won't really change the odds of that too much, and is drawing a location really that much worse than drawing a lategame Nick Fury or Mantis? Honestly with your deck I'd be more afraid of drawing into too many expensive characters in the initial draw, and then just getting smacked around for several turns. Also, if I'm going to put down a resource, which you will do a lot of with this deck, I prefer it to be a location that can later maybe be used rather than a character that could have been recruited and now cannot. As for what to drop, I would lighten up on some of your bigger characters, like I said, I see combinations for disastrous opening draws your deck could throw at you with reasonably high odds. Having that Thanos, Adam, and Dr. Strange ready to go with power up potential in your hand doesn't mean much when you can't keep Star-Lord alive long enough to recruit them. Suggestion: + 3 Training Ground - 1 Thanos - 1 Dr. Strange - 1 Magneto

That's definitely the correct call to remove Groot. I love him, but I've almost never seen him be useful. I just want him to be so badly.

Groot is kind of an awkward card, he is not really big at any stage in the game, but he is VERY cost effective lategame. If you drop him early on turn 4 he is actually weaker than most 4 drops, his natural drop on turn 5 is pretty average as well, but for only costing 4 or 5 resources, he is strong in the mid to lategame. I think this deck in particular wants to keep a couple Groots available. Your Groot is there to team attack with Gamora to get her lethal effect off on characters she can't handle alone (which will be all of them past turn 3), you don't have any other way to give Gamora more attack power, besides a team attack with Adam, but you definitely want to be able to use her lethality as much as possible.

So I've playtested more and I'm still not sure what to do. Groot is a great beatstick and I can't currently justify the additional locations. I may swap Groot out for something else. Currently I'm thinking Iron Man. I think as a 5/7 with flying Iron Man gives me more utility and is more reliable than Groot. I would probably go with Drax if not Iron Man.

I figured it out. Agent Venom gets the boot for 2 Reds. I played a game today and I knew for sure I needed more reds. I may also consider losing a green for another red but I'm not sure because I need greens for Thanos.
