Anybody have any starting ideas or where to begin with a deck idea for the Green Goblin?

I'm actually working on one right now... no deck list available yet... but so far I'm working with ramps... and hoping to ramp into bigGerman guys and using GG to kinda clear the way to the main... whether it's stunning a character or trying to get rid of plot twists... Ronan would make a great fit for this strategy and build as well... any thoughts?

I feel like you could go two ways with Green Goblin: the first is making use of his first super power to control the opponent's hand. As Feewee mentioned, Ronan goes a long way towards whittling down specific cards from your opponent's hand, and you could even use Mandarin to go whole hog on the discard concept. Where you take that strategy is up to you, but considering how little discard there is in the game, it might prove surprisingly effective.
The other way would be to not have to rely on Green Goblin's super power at all, and instead use as many other sources of stuns as you can to level him as efficiently as possible. This would involve using supports like Gambit, Cable, Yondu, and Red Skull. This one I feel might be a bit less effective in the long run, since flipping a location for a stun feels somewhat less potent than flipping for a discard in some situations; but if you don't go the discard route, I don't think you really have a whole lot of options for Green Goblin builds tbh.

I agree completely... the one match up that I for sure see giving the discard concept a hard time is loki... that would be a really bad match up... so the next step would be trying to figure out how you would beat your weakness... which is where I personally draw a blank.

Well, I haven't faced any myself, but I figure most Loki decks tend to be on the defensive in the early game considering Loki MC's statline... And although Loki isn't super troubled by having his plot twists discarded, if you can out-pace him then you might be able to swing the advantage your way. Mantis and/or Nick Fury could help build tempo, while Doc Oc and Beast can bolster your hand, or force your opponent to work hard to PREVENT your hand from eclipsing theirs. Of course, Adam Warlock and Thanos would be the obvious choice for late-game beatdowns if we're building tempo and card advantage...
Huh, this might have some potential. I'm gonna try building a tentative list and run it against my main deck, see what works and what doesn't.

I agree... and a couple berserkers in there couldn't hurt either...

Ok, so I came up with a preliminary deck concept, but it's not super stable and you should probably modify it to your own tastes. That being said, it CAN clutch out some wins against my main deck, so there's hope for Green Goblin yet!
Support characters: 32 4x Yondu 4x Mantis 3x Ronan 3x Nick Fury 4x Doctor Octopus 4x Sabretooth 3x Mandarin 3x Iron Man 2x Adam Warlock 2x Thanos
Plot twists: 10 4x Even The Odds 3x Trickster God 3x Savage Surprise
Locations: 18 4x The Vault 3x Knowhere 2x Avengers Mansion 4x Academy 3x Training Ground 2x Fortress
I'd be glad to go over some of the card choices and amounts if anyone's curious, but you're probably better off making your own justifications for keeping or changing any of this, and then fiddling with it as you move forward.

I kinda made a Goblin deck with as much discarding as I could, kind of like a mill deck. No idea how well it does, but the idea is fun.
Green goblin millish
Ronin 4x Red Skull 4x Sabertooth 4x Cable 4x Mandarin 3x Wolverine 2x Emma Frost 4x Magneto 2x Dormammu 2x Prof x 2x Thanos 1x
X factor 2x Open fire 3x Metal and fire 3x Trickster god 2x
School for gifted youngsters 4x Training grounds 4x Academy 4x Vault 4x

Now i do believe theangrybeard is on to something... i was looking at a very similar build myself except i ran 2 sabertooth and 2 drax because i really like his grab ability to stop flyers.

See, I was considering using Drax but I felt like... who do you really need to keep safe in the back row that late in the game? Yondu has two wounds, you really only need Nick Fury to go off once, and you already have GG himself along with Doc Oc to protect the back line in the early game. Much rather have a more consistent turn 4 Sabertooth. But hey, if it winds up working for you, let us know!

Drax is pretty mediocre, but he serves a pretty important purpose: Turning on Even the Odds.

You know, between Yondu, Mantis and Adam Warlock, I hadn't considered needing more Guardians, but... that kind of consistency could prove useful. I'll see what kind of adjustments might make a couple copies fit.

Let us know what you come up with... cause thus far I'm essentially getting writers block and having a hard time what to cut or trim... and you can't trim resources because this deck relies heavily on abilities

This deck is missing magneto... magneto kinda seems to me like it'd be a staple in this deck for solid lock down board control
